We’re obsessed with the Highlands
In April, Upbeat took on the Highlands! With our Pupbeat Princess in tow!!
Despite the picture of our Suki above, we believe the human experience is the reason we're in business. From knowing where the bus parking is to finding the best view point around the enormous Loch Ness, we're always thinking about how your groups will experience our favourite destinations.
Our Favourite Stops
Kilchurn Castle
While driving from the south of Scotland to Inverness, we saw an island to our left that looked magical and untouched (faerie home for certain). But then as we continued driving, we saw a fully fledged castle ruin and had to stop by!
That castle turned out to be Kilchurn Castle – a 15th century holding of Clan Campbell. It eventually became a military holding and then was shortly abandoned thereafter.
Glencoe
We, of course, knew about Glencoe but seeing it in the spring at sunset was an unparalleled experience. This magical place has a wonderful visitor centre that has trails for all accessibility levels, an informative museum, a café for grabbing lunch, guided tours, and the friendliest staff you'll ever meet! It is an absolute must-see stop on a Highlands tour of Scotland.
Inverary Castle & Port
Inverary Castle is a stunning visit. A currently lived in castle by the 27th head of the clan, the public access to this castle is surprisingly robust!
With the armoury hall in tact, rooms painted by one of the previous Duke's from the Georgian era, and original centuries-old tapestries, this visit will leave your group in awe.
And that's before we even get to the port! A safe, seaside little village with ample shopping, eating, and photography opportunities, groups can easily spend a whole morning in Inverary.
Group Must-Dos in the Highlands!
Spend time in nature! Learn about Scotland's gorgeous topography – while driving and during photo stops – is essential. With over 31,000 lochs in Scotland as a whole, you can rest assured that traveling by coach can't help but be beautiful, with ample opportunities for stretching your legs by a gorgeous view to boot.
Look for Nessie! Learn about the folklore and the actuality of Loch Ness's extraordinary depth – about two Big Bens standing atop each other, actually – on the top of the Great Glen Fault line.
Spend – maybe all of – your free time in Inverness in this magical book shop! They sell antique maps and drawings, books new and old, and totally unique art. A visit to Inverness is incomplete without it. This gorgeous place is one of many incredible spots in Inverness.
Give your group the opportunity to be enchanted by Scotland
Unparalleled beauty, friendly staff at every visit, ample learning opportunities, and a culture so familiar but so different simultaneously, Scotland is a fabulous choice for your groups.
