Visit Edinburgh
Make Scotland's capital your group's home base!
Edinburgh Castle viewed from Prince’s Street Gardens
Edinburgh is a lively, safe, and all-around fun home base for groups of all ages.
It is a city full of fabulous walking tours, – haunted and otherwise – beautiful performance spaces, a wide array of fascinating museums, two historic castles on nearly opposite ends of the monarchy's history as well as the Royal Mile, gorgeous little eateries, enough shops to keep you occupied for weeks, and plenty of surprises awaiting you down the various closes and alleyways!
Let's talk about those castles!
Interior courtyard view at the Palace of Holyroodhouse
Up at the top of the Royal Mile, however, stands one of Edinburgh's oldest structures – Edinburgh Castle. With the advantageous view provided, this clifftop town became the Anglicised "Edinburgh" in the 7th century.
Your group can visit the crown jewels, learn about the 12th century structure still standing, and about the myths and legends that call this extraordinary structure home.
The Palace of Holyroodhouse is still a royal residence and can be visited by the public – as long the King's not in!
Construction began in the late 16th century and many a life and generation have since passed through their halls.
Your group can learn about Mary Queen of Scots' brief imprisonment and the Stuart line's return with Bonnie Prince Charlie and so much more.
Fun for students…

Edinburgh could be nicknamed 'The City of Walking Tours' for how many you can find! Our favourites, however, focus on the grim history of the city with a fair dose of levity.
